As more and more of us started getting things delivered to our homes, particularly during the pandemic, more and more sneaky neighbors saw an opportunity to acquire goods free of charge. In fact, according to a recent report, “porch pirates” stole an estimated $8 billion worth of goods in the past year alone in the U.S.

Unfortunately for most people, they’ll never know who stole their package, although one Ohio woman was lucky enough to be able to ID her perpetrator, as the package had been mistakenly delivered to the wrong house. She then sought assistance from the police, which is when the thief attempted to return the goods, including the pair of underwear she was literally wearing at that very moment. Ew.

The purchaser ordered around $400 worth of stuff from Victoria’s Secret, and in the bodycam footage, we can see her explaining to the officer what was in the package and how her previous interaction with the thief went. The officer and the purchaser then approach the house together, and the homeowner pleads ignorance, although she adds that if the purchaser has a photo of the package at their front door, she believes them, she just has no idea where the package could have gone.

The officer asks her to bring her husband and daughter outside, and the daughter claims that when the family returned home, there was nothing on the porch. The officer gives them one last opportunity to tell the truth, explaining that there’s a Ring doorbell nearby with footage they can pull to prove someone stole the package, but they continue to plead ignorance, and go back inside to get their IDs.

Dad then returns after a while and says, “Your package is on its way out,” meaning the daughter fessed up. He adds since the package had been opened, they would compensate the purchaser for any missing items. Mom then emerges with the package and hands it over to the officers, and while the owner checks the contents, the parents weave a complicated story about them bringing the package inside under the mistaken belief it belonged to their daughter.

The second officer comes back and informs everyone that the package is missing five items, to which the daughter responds (via her mother) that she has no other items and that the woman should contact Victoria’s Secret about it. The mother and daughter continue to shout about how it’s Victoria’s Secret fault, and the situation escalates to the point that the officers decide to detain the daughter.

Everyone goes upstairs into the daughter’s room to look for the missing items, which the daughter magically finds almost immediately, but there’s still one item missing. Toward the end of the video, when the police clarify she’ll still be arrested, the woman admits she’s wearing a pink pair of underwear, and she’ll take them off if it means she won’t be arrested.

She’s then loaded into the cop car, shouting all the while about how they need to ask the purchaser if the final item missing is a pair of pink underwear. Unfortunately, we’ll never know the answer, just that she was taken into custody and charged with theft.
